ABOUT ME

A proud Chicagoan (Logan Square forever!), I'm happy to be back home, working with the people and the communities that have given me me so much love and support. Here is some information about my journey so far.

I graduated in May 2018 with degrees in in Environmental Studies, Communications, and Spanish from American University . While there, I was a Frederick Douglass Distinguished Scholar, which meant 100% financial support, academic encouragement from faculty, professional development from staff, and a loving community of like-minded, high-achieving students. I intend to one day pursue a graduate degree in urban planning.
Throughout my academic, professional, and personal projects I've explored the intersections of creative community engagement, art & public space, sustainable urbanization, and social justice. All in all, I've done a lot of different things, but the things I'm most proud of are either on display on this site, or described below.
As an undergrad, I pursued my creative interests in communication as a radio show host and DJ my own show called Brain Drain, where I interviewed professors about relevant, DC-based projects and research. I also took a few video art classes along the way, and developed my own creativity as well as acquired technical skills in digital communication though film, writing, and design.
Professionally, I've explored urban planning through various experiences, including an internship abroad in Santiago de Chile, where I was able to gain a global perspective on urbanization by interning with the Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, preparing the Chilean delegation for the UN Habitat III Conference. I now work as an Executive Assistant at the Metropolitan Planning Council in Chicago, where I get exposure to a variety of exciting studies and projects at the regional level.
Recently, I've had the immense pleasure of guiding, teaching, and managing teams of 15-20 CPS high school students seeking to reclaim Chicago's public spaces through urban design. Watching youth empowerment in action has been one of the most inspiring experience of my life. Shouts out to the team at Territory!

I look forward to the years of personal growth and creative endeavors ahead of me. If you have any questions, comments, or book recommendations, I'd love to chat.
